How often are exchange rates updated?

Rates are updated daily on business days. The European Central Bank publishes reference rates around 16:00 CET each working day.

How accurate are these rates?

Rates come directly from the European Central Bank and other official central banks. They are reference rates used by financial institutions. Actual transaction rates may include bank margins and fees.

Is this converter free?

Yes, completely free. We use the public Frankfurter API which aggregates rates from official central banks. No registration or payment required.

Can I get free historical euro-to-dollar rates, and where does the data come from?

Yes. Historical rates come from the Frankfurter API, which republishes the European Central Bank's daily reference rates at no cost and with no registration. Euro rates go back to 4 January 1999, when the euro was introduced; other currencies start on the first date the ECB published them, so the date picker only offers dates a rate actually exists for.
