Time & Date Calculators

Date Difference Calculator

Pick two dates and this calculator returns the difference in days, weeks, months and years between them. The end day is included by default, and ticking the working-days option replaces the headline with the Monday-to-Friday count, with weekend days shown beside it. Only weekends are removed: public holidays still count as working days.

Calculator

Up to 50 dates. Only weekdays inside the range are removed.

No holidays added yet.

How It Works

The two dates are placed on their calendar days and the day counts are subtracted. The calculation compares the calendar date itself, not the time of day, so daylight-saving changes never shift the result and leap years are counted correctly. The total is then broken down into years, months, weeks, and days.

About This Calculator

What It Does

Calculate the exact number of days, weeks, months, and years between any two dates. Use it for project planning, event countdowns, or measuring time intervals.

Worked Example

From January 1, 2024 to January 1, 2025: with the Include end day option ticked, as it is by default, the calculator shows 367 days, which is 52 weeks and 3 days, 12 months, and 1 year. Uncheck it for 366 days, since 2024 is a leap year.

Real-World Usage

Calculate project durations, measure time between events, determine age difference between two people, compute contract or rental periods, or find how many days you've worked at a job.

Local Context

Calendar calculations automatically account for leap years and varying month lengths. Date format conventions differ: US uses MM/DD/YYYY, most European countries use DD/MM/YYYY, and Germany uses DD.MM.YYYY.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the end date count as day one?

By default, yes: the calculator includes the end day, so 1 March 2024 to 1 April 2024 shows 32 days (31 + 1). Uncheck the Include end day option to count only the days in between, which gives 31. In both cases the figure is a count of calendar days, not of complete 24-hour periods.

Does this account for leap years?

Yes. The calculator automatically handles leap years when computing differences that span a February 29th.

How do I calculate working days?

Tick Count working days only (Mon–Fri) and the headline figure becomes the working days in the span, with the weekend days shown next to it. Saturdays and Sundays are always excluded; add dates under Public holidays to exclude to take public holidays out as well, and the result card shows how many days that removed.
